Fort Lauderdale

The City

Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, New River, and countless waterways, Fort Lauderdale has been dubbed the “Venice of America” and is situated on the southeast coast of Florida between West Palm Beach and Miami. With over 3,000 hours of sunshine each year, the semi-tropical climate allows for shorts on Christmas morning, a beach day on New Year’s Eve, and flip-flops in February—a much welcomed relief to those battling months of gray skies and snow-covered cars. And while Fort Lauderdale is often generalized as a laid-back, endless vacation destination (and that’s true for tourists), it is also home to a melting pot of residents moving at a rapid city pace. Beaches serve as the city’s main attraction, while it is also proud of its rich arts, culture, dining, and fashion.

Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church

LIBERATE 2013 is presented by Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. The conference will be hosted in Coral Ridge’s iconic building.

Coral Ridge has remained a strong presence in Fort Lauderdale since 1959, when it held its first worship service in a cafeteria under the pastoral leadership of D. James Kennedy. When the current church buliding completed in 1973, Dr. Billy Graham delivered the dedication address.

New City Presbyterian Church and Coral Ridge merged on Easter Sunday in 2009, making Rev. W. Tullian Tchividjian the second senior pastor in Coral Ridge’s 50-year history.

Today, Coral Ridge is on a mission of gospel-revolution, working to bring the liberating power of the gospel of grace to the church, community, city, and world. Valuing its history and looking towards its future, Coral Ridge is “old fashioned in a brand new way,” and strives to be a gospel-drenched church that rests in the finished work of Christ.
